In June 2008, my 18 month daughter, Grace, came down with a terrible virus that resulted in severe regression of her speech. I found Jodi Schechtman’s Communication Station website while I was trying to find a reason to help my daughter and saw the other parents wonderful testimonials about the Communication Station. I immediately enrolled Grace and have been taking her to speech therapy for 2 months now. She went from not saying anything to clearly speaking 100 words now. Jodi Schechtman has been able to work wonders with Grace and there have been many times when I will hear my daughter say a challenging word and I cannot help but cry! The demeanor of my daughter has changed as well. She is no longer frustrated because she can now verbally communicate her thoughts! My family owes this to Jodi and we will truly never forget what she and her kind and understanding team have done for Grace! We thank you with all of our hearts!

As I look back to February 2007, I know with certainty that I am allowing my child the best speech and language services through Lori Johnston at Jodi Schechtman's Communication Station, located in Marlton, New Jersey. Lori keeps herself well informed with new techniques such as Brain Gym [and] Whole Body Learning concepts that help build speech and language development [as well as] enhancing reading, writing, spelling and math skills. She also incorporates exercises to address the areas of attention, concentration, focus, eye-hand coordination, and self-esteem. A program I am very pleased to have purchased, at Lori's suggestion, is The Listening Program. This ten week program is music-based and designed to awaken the various functions of the auditory processing system. Three weeks into the program, my child's school teacher mentioned to me [that] she was more conversational in class and after completion of The Listening Program, I am pleased to say that my child has improved memory, reading, attention, and listening skills. My child also appears to have more confidence around her peers and is more vocal about her feelings. One of the benefits to owning The Listening Program is [that] you can go back at any time you feel it is necessary and use the program again. I would be remiss if I did not mention Lori's level of enthusiasm. She is so upbeat and excited to work with your child and it is evident [that] she truly wants to see every child succeed. I am thankful for Lori and I am confident her continued efforts will result in my child achieving her full potential.

Our daughter Avery was diagnosed with Apraxia at 20 months. Since starting speech therapy with Rizza at Jodi Schechtman's Communication Station a few months ago, our daughter is already saying a few words! Rizza is already like a member or our family! Avery loves her (and the rest of the staff) and gets so excited when we pull in the parking lot she actually starts to scream! We know we have a long road ahead of us, but with Rizza's help we know Avery will be successful!

We have been so blessed to have found Jodi Schechtman! We were referred by a John Hopkins research study group after they had recommended the Hanen Speech Program. I had spoken to numerous therapists that were unfamiliar with this but when I spoke with Jodi Schechtman’s Communication Station I could sense that they not only knew, but this was the place to bring my son. He has made tremendous progress with Jodi and his speech evaluation finally pinpointed what his difficulties were. He not only loves Jodi but I know that our time is not wasted and a true experienced professional is helping my son. We thank you Jodi, from the bottom of our hearts for your caring expertise, thank you!!!

I have been bringing my 16 month old son to Jodi for about 6 weeks now and each week I am amazed at how passionate Jodi Schechtman is about her work. She is equally passionate about my son's progress. Some people said he was too young for speech therapy, but Jodi disagreed and now my son has improved by engaging more in play, saying more sounds, and he even said 2 words while in therapy last week. Both Jodi and I were so proud we had tears in our eyes. Jodi truly cares about my son and it shows every time we see her. I trust in her knowledge and experience. I know without a doubt that my son is in the best hands with Jodi. She is always smiling and cheerful and has a way of engaging my son, which is not always so easy to do! I would highly recommend Jodi Schechtman’s Communication Station to anyone. Her staff always greets us with smiles and they are so friendly to me and my son when we walk in. I am a Speech Therapist with the geriatric population. I know enough about speech therapy for children that I am very picky in finding the right person.......I know with Jodi that I have.

Early Intervention worked with my son for 18 months and I was told by several of the therapists that he may never speak. We started working with Jodi three months ago (he was 3.5 years old) and he is making purposeful sounds. We have heard many different consonant and vowel sounds. He even said "Mom" for the first time! His receptive language has greatly improved as well as increasing his time on task. We drive over an hour to work with Jodi and I actually look forward to it because I know I will see progress every time we go. Half of my battle has been finding therapists who have high expectations and give us hope. Jodi is as enthusiastic and passionate about her work as she is about each child she helps. She understands our frustrations and challenges and offers techniques to use outside of therapy. I absolutely recommend Jodi Schechtman's Communication Station!

Stephanie, our speech language therapist at Jodi Schechtman's Communication Station works very actively (to keep up w/my son) to get Casey to focus and work on speaking. Casey has started to say a few words & Stephanie is always very enthusiastic in her encouragement. I can see it makes him feel good. We appreciate her patience and enthusiasm with him.

Our 4yr old daughter has been receiving speech therapy for the past year @ Jodi Schechtman’s Communication Station. The improvement we've heard in our daughter’s speech is overwhelming. We remember the first day she was able to pronounce her own name. The entire staff is a delight to work with. Our daughter is always made to feel welcomed & special.

We have had an overwhelming positive experience with speech therapy at Jodi Schechtman’s Communication Station. We have enjoyed both of the therapists we worked with very much. Zelie has made progress and we are satisfied with the progress she has made. We would certainly recommend your services to other parents.

We continue to be impressed by the staff. And we really appreciate the understanding of the staff when we’ve has to reschedule or cancel an appointment - especially with in the last month due to caring for a newborn and the flooding that we experienced….Thank you!!

I wanted to add to my mother’s comment regarding your services. As a Behavior Analyst myself, I have see such an improvement in all areas of language! When I visit with Tay he can not stop talking about what he has learned. Tay's expressive and receptive language has improved so much! When parents ask if I know a good speech therapist, I always recommend Jodi Schechtman’s Communication Station because I have seen first hand what you have done for my Brother... I just can’t THANK YOU ENOUGH!!!

I started bring my son Jared to Rizza and Jodi Schechtman three months ago. Within a few weeks, Jared began asking and answering “wh” questions. His sentences have lengthened and their structure has improved. His grandparents just came to visit. They hadn’t seen him since he had started private speech therapy and they were amazed how his language skills have improved.
Willow L
Zeke's speech therapist is warm and inviting. She always greets us with a smile. She’s fun and full of energy for Zeke. He loves coming to see her each week. Her knowledge of the field has provided us with so many ways to work with Zeke at home. She’s been a key factor in giving our beautiful boy a voice. Thank you!

What a pleasure it has been for me to watch my 4-year old son Jared work each week with Amanda. Jared's apraxia has improved to such a point where people who just meet him find it hard to believe he has any speech issues. Amanda has an amazing relationship with Jared and her skill and talent are obvious throughout each session. Her imagination and creativity with the activities she presents to Jared amaze me. Her style of teaching combines her love of children, understanding of them, undying patience, and most importantly her technique is top notch. She doesn't just treat Jared for his speech issue; she prepares him for every aspect of school he will encounter. I feel very lucky to have her in his life.
Joanne R.
Ilana is a wonderful speech therapist. She always very nice to my daughter and myself. Ana’s language skills have greatly improved over this past school year. I plan to send Ana back during the next school year. Thanks Ilana you’re the best!!

I have seen such an improvement with Natalia's speech since she has started her therapy at Jodi Schechtman's Communication Station. The speech therapist has such a friendly teaching and learning environment that Natalia even sits through her session without me. I feel comfortable knowing that after each session Natalia has that she will be headed in the right direction for a future full of talking!
Beverly D.
My husband and I love how well our son Tay is doing. He looks forward to coming every other week. The progress Tay has made in the one and half years we have been coming is wonderful. Rizza is always encouraging in the therapy she does with him. She knows when to push and when to try something different. Tay feels successful which encourages him to keep trying.
Lauren L.
Thanks to therapy techniques my daughter's lisp "s" "magically" disappeared!!! Hailey's speech sounds wonderful!!!
Andrea D.
Apraxia impacts many areas in development. Rizza takes each aspect into account, treating the whole child. Therapy sessions have focused on articulation, reading, comprehension, writing, and social communication helping Sierra grow and improve in many areas. Rizza makes each session enjoyable. Three years later my daughter still looks forward to her appointments. She is wonderful therapist that continues to have a positive impact as my daughter continues to improve. Thank you Rizza!!
Stefaine D.
My son Ryan has a hearing loss and in less than a year, The speech therapist has gotten Ryan to be able to properly say and pronounce letters and sounds that he can't even hear. The speech therapist is wonderful at knowing how to make learning fun and exciting for a three year old boy. We can't thank her enough.
Ellen L.
For the past year, my son has received speech therapy with Rizza and other Communication Station therapists. The amount of progress he has made is more then I could have ever hoped for in such a short period of time. When we started last year Andrew was only saying approximately 30 words. Of which were all echolalia. When he is focused he speaks in full sentences and can carry on a short conversation. Not only has he developed a deep bond with his therapist, but he has also gained the self confidence it takes to initiate a conversation and to begin to express his needs and wants. To Rizza and staff, thank you for all that you have done to get Andrew where he is today and for supporting and guiding us. To Jodi, thank you for creating such a wonderful practice. Everyone is so knowledgeable and eager to help.
Lorri Z.
I couldn't be happier or more satisfied with the progress that Jayson has mad and know that the services he receives at your facility is largely the reason.

Nine months ago when my son Sean started seeing the therapists at Jodi Schechtman's Communication Station he needed a lot of prompting to repeat words and phases. At that time, even repeating many words and sounds was difficult for him. For several months we has three sessions each week and, although there is still much more work to do, Sean is now spontaneously speaking several word phases, attempts to say almost any word and his speech is much clearer and improving all the time. Sitting in on his sessions in the beginning was an education for me and taught me how to work with Sean at home. Sean is so enthusiastic and is able to communicate better and enjoys his therapy sessions. I am so grateful.
Sharon O.
Ever since we have started speech therapy a year and half ago with Rizza we have seen a noticeable improvement in many areas such as eye contact, the ability to discriminate differences in pictures and spontaneously responding to verbal commands. I feel Rizza has been a tremendous in Mikayla's progress. Rizza has won over Mikayla with her gentle but firm nature. I would highly recommend Rizza's expertise to anyone in need of a qualified speech pathologist. My husband and I feel that Rizza is a genuine person who truly loves her job.
Susan K.
Thank you to our is wonderful therapist. Our therapist is always "in tune" to Thomas and all of his individual strengths and weakness. She always had a smile on her face and is very patient and friendly. Our therapist provides terrific feedback after all of Thomas sessions and listens attentively to any concerns we may have. Thomas is making great progress.
Audrey D.
There are not enough words to explain how wonderful Rizza is. It is amazing in a little over a year the progress Stephen has made. When Stephen started he had fluency problems which had all but disappeared. His other speech problems are not obvious compared to a year ago. It is not just the results, but Rizza makes speech fun. Stephen rarely complains about going to speech, which I think is remarkable. I consider our family very lucky to have been paired with Rizza. I always talk highly about Stephen's speech therapy to anyone that has concerns about there children's speech.
Kathleen M.
Rizza is the best. She identifies Donald's weakness and finds new ways to work on them. He really enjoys coming and is not even aware that he is working. He is the best Testimonial.

My son Robert was diagnosed with Apraxia in July 2004. We have seen two different speech therapist prior to finding Jodi Schechtman's Communication Station in November 2005. Since we have been coming here Robert has worked with Rizza. I feel that my prayers have been answered when I found Rizza. Robert has a strong connection with Rizza. She knows my son and interprets many different activities to draw out his full potential. When we started here most people could only understand Robert about 60% of the time, my friends and family are constantly commenting on how well Robert sounds. He is now 5 years old and most people can understand him about 90-95% of the time. Robert loves coming to see Rizza. Rizza not only helps my soon she gives me guidance on dealing with my son's IEP as well as the free workshops the office has to offer. The office is very client friendly.

Rizza has been working with my three and half year old son, Jake, who has Apraxia since February 2007. She is an excellent speech therapist. Jake loves her and has made amazing progress with her, in just four months time. We are extremely happy with Rizza's care, compassion and therapy methods. Very glad we chose The Communication Station and were assigned Rizza.
Randee F.
From the moment my son met Rizza, he opened up and starting doing things he had never done before. She is patient, kind and caring. Our son took to her right away. Within weeks of Max working with Rizza he was saying words he had never said and he was eating foods he would never try before. Every chance I get I tell as many friends about Rizza...in hopes that she can help their children. The strategies that Rizza had provided for us have been wonderful. They are easy to implement at home. We have had lots of success with them.
Thank you to Rizza and the entire Jodi Schechtman team for not only helping our son but helping our entire family.
Sandra S.
Rizza is a wonderful therapist. She is connected to my child's progress. She always has a smile and is extremely patient and goes above and beyond. She is amazing with my son and we are grateful for her never-ending dedication and hard work.

The language therapy services provided by Jodi Schechtman Speech Services have not only enabled my sons (twin boys) to take those first steps (difficult) toward communication, but have also given me as a parent proof and hope that progress is possible for them.
Ann Marie S.
We’ve been coming to see Jodi for over 2 years. Justin has made huge progress behaviorally and verbally since we started. After a very rough start, he actually looks forward to going to see Ms. Jodi. She is extremely knowledgeable and patient. She somehow gets him to cooperate when others couldn’t. I highly recommend Jodi Schechtman Speech Services to everyone!

As a parent and a speech pathologist myself, I was extremely selective when I needed to find a speech therapist for my five year old son. Although Jodi Schechtman's reputation preceded her, my expectations have been surpassed. The social skills groups that we have participated in have been exceptional and very beneficial. Amy, his speech therapist at Jodi’s office has worked wonderfully with my son also. We continue to see progress with his speech skills and I am very happy with our decision to come here. I highly recommend Jodi Schechtman’s Communication Station!

Other speech therapists in this area told me that my three year old daughter, who was using single words to communicate, could not be evaluated or taught because of her short attention span. She was diagnosed with PDD and I was referred to Jodi’s Schechtman Speech Services. I was very scared and concerned for my daughter. Jodi did evaluate her in one session. To my surprise my daughter has flourished, making great strides in 6 months and can now converse with her peers! I also have gained an incredible knowledge base in that short period of time and now I can help my daughter! I was told Jodi and her team are the best and I found out they definitely are the best! We are all (my entire family) so thankful for Jodi and their team of therapists.

Miss Rizza at Jodi Schechtman Speech Services did a great job interacting with Alex. She made Alex feel comfortable and aided in developing his confidence. Alex continued to “blossom” under Miss Rizza’s guidance in the skill areas that Alex needed. We have been blessed with the duration and attention to detail regarding Alex. Our son has evolved emotionally, intellectually and socially due to help from Jodi Schechtman and Miss Rizza.

At the age of two my daughter began speech services through my county’s Early Intervention program. At age three my daughter began receiving speech services through our school district’s pre-school program. Progress was slow. Although there was continued improvement, at four and a half she was still not understood by most adults. At this time we began services at Jodi Schechtman Speech Services. The changes we saw in six months were amazing. Our daughter was opening up, growing in confidence, and being understood! Since that time a year and a half later, we owe Rizza a debt of gratitude. She is helping our daughter reach her full potential. Our daughter has Apraxia which impacts many areas related to language, articulation, sentence structure, and reading ability. Rizza treats all areas helping our daughter master all areas impacting her speech and articulation. She coordinates with our daughter’s school speech teacher as well as with us to help insure a consistent treatment program. Rizza addresses any concerns we have and adjusts services as new challenges arise and old challenges are met. Thank you Rizza, and Jodi Schechtman for all the help you have given our daughter. She is where she is today through your efforts.

My daughter Samantha had been having therapy with “Miss Jodi” for about 2 months. We have seen a big improvement in her speech and she loves coming each Tuesday to “play.” Jodi picked up that Sam’s speech problems were also part of some sensory processing issues and we had her evaluated by an O.T and she was right! We are now in O.T and Sam is doing really well overall thanks to Jodi! Sam is very lucky to have her!
Co-Worker of 24 Year Old
Gabby (Age 24) has been seeing Jodi Schechtman for approximately 6 months. As a Co –worker of Gabby, I have observed a big change in Gabby during the last several months. She has become a “happy” worker, engaging in conversation and responding when questioned. Gabby will now initiate socially on her own and has demonstrated a self confidence not seen prior. Gabby has become part or our “TEAM.”- G. W
Additional Co-Worker of 24 Year Old
In the past three months I have noticed Gabby’s vocabulary improve and expand. The rhythm she exhibits is much more focused, frequent, and expressive. She engages in conversations with increased confidence and uses her words consistently. Her social skills are expanding as she explores her world of words and expressions. Keep up the great work Jodi Schechtman Speech Services. - Grace M Lewis

My 2 ½ -year-old son has apraxia and Pervasive Developmental Disorder. When I first started bringing him to see Jodi Schechtman last April, he wouldn’t sit in a chair, focus, or even attempt to make a sound. Although we have so much further to go, he will now try to follow directions, attempt to imitate sounds and has a much better attention span. My son, who Jodi used to only be able to work with on the floor when he first started, will now immediately go to the therapy room and patiently wait for her to follow. I contribute his growth to Jodi Schechtman’s perserverance and extensive knowledge of my son’s issues. In addition to seeing Jodi a few times a week, my son also sees speech therapists Rizza and Lori, who are also both excellent with my son and a great parent resource. Along with speech services, my son has been fortunate enough to have Chris Graham running our Applied Behavior Analysis program along with the energetic and compassionate team of Wandia Santana and Bonnie McBride. As a former special education teacher, I have known many different service providers in the area. I am confident that my son is in excellent hands with Jodi and her team.

I feel so very lucky to have found Jodi, and did so at a time when my 2-year old son Jared was seeing a speech therapist working for a local children's hospital. He was diagnosed with Apraxia, but was making no progress with this therapist and we had completed at least 12 sessions. I was heartbroken and frustrated because I knew with the right therapist Jared had a great prognosis, especially with his still being so young. Jodi Schechtman is the miracle we were looking for. I almost convinced myself Jared was too young for therapy, but our first visit with Jodi almost had me in tears, tears of joy that is. Jared tuned into her immediately and showed improvement during that session. Along with her skill and talent, which is great, she is compassionate and funny, yet knows how to reel Jared in when his attention wanders. He likes her and respects her and though he may try to get his way here and there, he very much feels Jodi is there to help him and provide him with the structure and discipline he needs for better communication. Whereas he never responded to his old therapist, he replies to Jodi, repeats what she says, ends her sentences for her, and has learned to ask for what he wants. I sit in amazement during our sessions and at awe with Jodi's expertise. She makes use of every minute and can turn anything Jared presents her with into a learning lesson. Jared is talking and singing away and this after only five sessions with Jodi. We just started seeing her, but know with her help, Jared will be up to par in no time. I look forward to our sessions and am grateful Jodi is in our lives.

I have a healthy 3 year old boy who loves to tell stories. Our problem was we did not understand a word he said. Once his preschool teachers expressed the same concern we knew we needed to get speech therapy. I knew I was going to go to Jodi Schechtman. Besides hearing wonderful things about her skills as a speech therapist, I also have known her personally for about 10 years and know what a great person she is. My son started therapy in September and has already made so much improvement. We are able to understand about 90% of what he says. Most importantly, his teachers have noticed a big improvement. My son is much happier now that we can understand his wonderful stories. The crankiness and frustration have disappeared. He also loves going to "Miss Jodi's". I thank Jodi for getting him on the right track and helping him with her fabulous skills. I recommend Jodi's speech services to anyone who is thinking of speech for their child. She has made a great improvement in our lives, especially our son's.
Robin M. from Cherry Hill, NJ
We immediately saw the results of Jodi Schechtman's unique approach to speech therapy. We never thought we would see improvement in our daughter’s speech so quickly. Jodi Schechtman makes speech fun and the results are remarkable. Her energetic and enthusiastic personality makes being her facility a pleasure. Every day our daughter asks when she can go to see Jodi.

Thank you to all of you, especially Jodi Schechtman for all you've done for my son... From the private speech in which he has made hugh progress.. to the wonderful Social Skills Program. His confidence is evident and his maturity and socialization has truly blossomed. You came at a great time in our lives. Thanks again.

Our son is not autistic, just very slow to develop speech and language abilities. We adopted him from Russia at aged 4. He had been late to develop his speech abilities in Russian. As a 1st grader, initially, he was constantly a burden for the teacher and, hence, the remainder of his class. We started with Jodi Schechtman Speech Services in the fall of his first grade year. We could notice immediate, if not dramatic, changes. While previously he had always just refused to attempt a task which he did not understand, he began to tell us and ask questions. He became cooperative. His issue was with speech decoding and comprehension. He simply did not understand much of went on around him. We continued with weekly private speech sessions with Jodi. We are still following this regimen. This is in addition to a special reading tutor. Our expectations for him have gone from --repeating first grade and with special assistance for reading and math to... --"Golly! Is this the same child?" Of course our son is not the only one who learned and benefitted. Jodi's private speech & language program is aimed not only at the children, but at the parents as well. There were taped material and live appearrances by experts on the issues of learning disabilities. As parents, we gained a great deal that assist us to help our son at home. The overall net effect has been very positive. While our vigiliance and determination to assist his learning has become more focused on real activities that continue his improvement, we are also looking forward to a point, soon, at which we feel we can handle helping our son. We will get to that point as parents only because of the teaching from Jodi Schechtman and her staff. We have seen such dramatic improvements. Our demeanor has gone from despair to exhilaration with learning objectives accomplished by our son. While these steps seem small to parents of children who do not have these learning disabilities, to us, they seem miraculous. His progress was so slow before and he frequently regressed. While we are not to the end of the tunnel with our son, we can see the light. Thank you Jodi Schechtman.
Greatful parents dealing with apraxia
from Mount Laurel, NJ
My son started working with Jodi Schechtman Speech Services privately for his speech disorder, apraxia. My son spoke few words or sounds prior to beginning therapy with Jodi. After only 6 weeks (multiple sessions each week), my son has a vocabulary of over 50 words! Jodi has shown genuine concern over my son's progress and has embraced his interests as part of our therapy sessions. Her sessions revolve around games and activities that keep my 2 1/2 year old stimulated, interested and excited! Jodi also gives us projects to do at home to continue therapy which is so vital for the sucess of an apraxic child. She has provided us with reading materials, access to her resource library, books for our son, CDs, and other materials. In addition, Jodi has provided us with opportunities to meet parents of other apraxic children. We are realistic that our son will be in therapy for some time, but we feel blessed to have been led to Jodi Schechtman. Jodi is professional, enthusiastic, and positive. She was highly recommended to us by a friend of a friend and we would highly recommend her for any child with speech delay.

I was fortunate to sit next to Jodi Schechtman at an apraxia conference (for professionals and parents) in March, 2004. Jodi's knowledge and experience was evident by the comments she made at the conference. I know her insights into apraxia and therapy were helpful for me and I'm sure for professionals working with this challenging population. I contacted Jodi shortly after the conference for a formal evaluation and therapy for my son. My son had been in early intervention since age 2.3 and has been in a preschool disabled program, through the school district, since age 3. My son has severe childhood apraxia of speech. Unfortunately this diagnosis wasn't made until shortly before I attended the conference, he was almost 4.5 years old. Prior to therapy with Jodi his progress was very slow. One problem being he needed more speech therapy, more than the school or county was willing to provide. I did not realize how much individual speech therapy he needed. I believe his recent progress, which has been great in these 4 months, is due to Jodi's abilities as a speech therapist. Jodi is extremely energetic and enthusiastic, she is very positive and my son adores her. Severe apraxia is such a complex speech and motor integration issue, I now realize the importance of a speech therapist who is knowledgeable, experienced and educated regarding this specific diagnosis. We realize that our son will need intensive speech therapy, much beyond what the schools will provide, for many years. I am still frightened for my son and his disability. I am extremely greatful that I sat next to Jodi Schechtman at that David Hammer CAS conference. I am much more hopeful for my son's future.

Our son has had about 12 weekly speech therapy sessions with Jodi Schechtman Speech Services so far. From the very start it was clear that each session is targetted to his needs and is worthwhile in and of itself. Jodi teaches us what she is working on with our son and why each skill is important - this helps us to work with him at home and reinforce his new learning. Our son is enthusiastic about his new skills and enjoys practicing. Jodi uses fun materials and effective behavioral strategies to make learning fun and help keep his focus. We also appreciate her expertise and guidance regarding his education and intervention services

Hi Jodi, Just wanted to tell you how nice you conducted our parent group today. The packets were so informative. Also there were a nice group of parents to talk to as well. I also wanted to Thank You for involving your staff in talking about change with James. I thought that was so thoughtful of all of you to take the time during class to talk about it. It was so nice of Melissa to especially speak to James about his new floors that are coming to his house. I really appreciate such great team work. Have a great day Lorraine.

Our son had speech services with Jodi Schechtman. This amazing speech therapist kept my son's attention for a full hour and he actually looked forward to going. We saw immediate progress and we could easily continue therapy at home. We would highly recommend her to any parent without hesitation.

I started having worries about my son Zach before he turned two. He had poor eye contact and was not reaching the age appropriate receptive or expressive language goals. We took him to Dupont and our doctor told us to get him speech therapy immediately. We were put on a waiting list for early intervention and I went looking for a private speech therapist. THANK GOD! I found Jodi who has turned out to be not only an outstanding therapist for Zach but also a friend. From the moment I called the office and held my breath while Mimi (wonderful person) looked for available time for Zach I knew we would be in good hands. Zach is now two and a half, he is babbling away and starting to say some words. He is completely age appropriate with his receptive languauge and Jodi has helped us add sign language so that Zach can communicate until he is able to be understood expressively. Since we have Jodi on our side, I am 100% convinced that Zach will be understood by all and make an amazing impact on the world. One of the best moments with Jodi was recently when Zach said "bubbles" and we both understood. Well, Jodi turned to me and we both had tears in our eyes. That is how committed she is to helping children. She feels the emotions just as a parent would. I couldn't have asked for a better person to come into our lives at such a difficult time. Thank you Jodi. You truely are a miracle worker!
Carolyn McAleer from Cherry Hill, NJ
Jodi Schechtman has forever changed our lives. We were concerned with our son, Kenny's, lack of communication and verbalization abilities from an early age. From the age of 2 to 3 we had early intervention services for Kenny, with little progress. Because Kenny's progress was slight, we wanted additional help for the interim before the start of his preschool program. Jodi was recommended to us by my mother, who worked closely with her in a medical practice in Cherry Hill. It is a year, almost to the day, since Kenny has been seeing Jodi. He has gone from essentially a non-verbal child who was easily frustrated due to his lack of speech and language, i.e, hiding under the table, minimal eye contact, crying, and various other avoidance behaviors. Today Kenny is formulating three to four word phrases, can verbalize his needs and wants, makes eye contact easily, and greets people warmly. The avoidance behaviors are gone, and Kenny's self-esteem has soared. Had we not come to Jodi, we often wonder what would have been ahead for Kenny's development. She is warm, loving, fun, knowledgable, and most of all professional. Her assistant, Miss Mimi, contributes greatly to the wonderful atmosphere in Jodi's practice.

Lori, a SLP at Jodi Schechtman Speech Services has a strong rapport with my daughter which allows my daughter to benefit enormously from speech therapy. The therapy sessions are always productive because Lori keeps them fun and works with her using play strategies. My daughter is constantly challenged and doesn’t even realize she is working since she is having fun. Lori’s experience with apraxic children shows in how she is able to help my daughter make gains with her speech production and language skills. There is no “one size fits all” approach for apraxia. It takes extensive knowledge, expertise and creativity to improve an apraxic child’s prognosis and Lori demonstrates all of these.

Lori, a SLP at Jodi Schechtman Speech Services is a great Speech Therapist for my daughter and son. My daughter Amy wasn’t diagnosed with a hearing loss until age 3. Amy was fitted with a hearing aid, but she still struggled to speak clearly. She was in the PSD program, but her speech was still at a level where she was frustrated and angry. After having Lori for just one week I saw a great improvement in my daughter’s speech. My daughter has now been with Lori for over two years and we just love Lori. Lori is very progressive in her speech therapy. She is willing to try new ideas and techniques in her field. Lori recently started the listening program with Amy to help improve on her listening skills. I also take my son to Lori. Even though he is older, he still enjoys the speech sessions and has worked hard to improve his speech. She makes her sessions fun for children of all ages. Where else can you go and sit on a big rubber ball for a chair?

Lori, a SLP at Jodi Schechtman Speech Services has made excellent progress with my 8 year old son over the past two years. When he began he was uncooperative and refused to work or made eye contact -- that has all changed. He no longer avoids verbal interactions and now initiates them and sustains them, which is really helping him socially. Lori can see his potential and she takes him there and then some. She is very clear and fair in her expectations of him and he meets them. She is also very communicative to me so that we can continue her methods at home.

My son, Billy (now age 3), has a language delay and was very lucky to have Rizza, at Jodi Schechtman Speech Services working with him. She has helped him tremendously and I see such progress. He really enjoyed being with Rizza. She would sit on the floor and integrate play into their sessions, which made it very fun for Billy. Rizza cheered and clapped for him when he achieved something he was trying and that made him feel great and want to do more! We were very happy and lucky to have Rizza in our lives!

My son Craig has been working with Rizza, a SLP at Jodi Schechtman Speech Services for six months as part of the Early Intervention Program of Burlington County. Craig did not say any words when he first started working with Rizza. Under Rizza's direction, Craig can now say over 50 words and can speak in 5 word sentences. Rizza has a bright and cheerful personality. Her energy is contagious! Craig looks forward to each session he has with "Miss Rizza". I can hear the excitement in her voice after each of Craig's successes. Rizza's creative methods make learning fun. Most importantly, she stays one step ahead of his learning and challenges him each week. Rizza is professional, knowledgeable, and cares about children. I am fortunate to have her working with my son.

My family had the privilege of working with Rizza, a SLP at Jodi Schechtman Speech Services. She is an excellent therapist. Before she came into our lives our son Josh had no words. He went from having no words to using sign language then to having a vocabulary of words. Rizza helped change our lives. Josh was very frustrated and my husband and I as parents felt helpless. Then, Rizza introduced speech therapy which changed our lives. We finally were able to hear Josh say "Mommy" and "Daddy" plus many other words. Rizza is not only an excellent therapist but she has a great personality. We feel lucky to have had the opportunity to work with her. Josh always looked forward to his sessions. He is a very shy little boy, but from the first time he met Rizza he loved her. He felt very comfortable with her because of her kind and caring way. Josh now can have a conversation with us and let us know his wants and needs. We have Rizza and Jodi Schechtman Speech Services to thank for that.

My son, Glenn, has been working with Miss Serena for the past couple of months. Wow - what a difference! Glenn receives ABA therapy at home and at school. The only piece missing from his progress was spontaneous speech. Since he has started Speech Therapy at Jodi Schechtman Speech Services we have noticed a tremendous increase in use of pragmatic, social language rather than just mands. We are so lucky to have Miss Serena working with Glenn; he responds so well to her and enjoys working with her.

My son began with Jodi Schechtman Speech Services about a year ago. He has a diagnosis of PDD-NOS and Apraxia. Finding someone in our area with knowledge about his needs proved to be impossible. We had tried a few speech therapists and were not happy with their performance. Luckily, our school district referred us to Jodi. When I sat in on the evaluation I was immediately impressed. The therapy session was fast-moving, energetic and different from anything that we had seen previously. Jodi's evaluation was right on the mark. She knew my son's needs and said that he would benefit from therapy. At age 4 he could not even point and his verbalization was limited to "duh". We started therapy in September 2005 three times a week and saw an improvement very quickly. We were starting to hear words and his listening and cognitive skills had improved. Jodi and her staff work on speech and language, but they also work on the whole child (attention, behavior, ect). This became evident when our district reevaluated him in May 2006. Prior to seeing Jodi, the school could not even administer any standardized testing. He wouldn't sit still long enough and had very little attention span. In May of 2006 he completed 2 - 2hour sessions of testing with the school district. They were impressed with the progress and I was amazed at what he could do. This year with my son in a full day school program we did not have an opportunity to continue with Jodi because of our travel time (we drive an hour to see her). After a few weeks without seeing Jodi or her staff we noticed a regression. I got on the phone and scheduled as many appointments as we could get. I am convinced that Jodi's services are what my son needs. Even though that Jodi and her staff have helped my son's speech and language that's not even the primary reason we continue therapy there. Jodi and her staff are so knowledgable and forthcoming with their information that visiting her helps me as much as it helps my son. If you are looking for a supportive and honest environment where your questions will be answered and your child's needs will be addressed you will not be diappointed!

Up until we brought our 7yr. old (PDD-NOS) to Jodi Schechtman Speech Services, his speech & language & social skills progress was just fair. Jodi saw his potential, grabbed it, and ran with it. Eight months later he is conversing better and socializing better. His cognitive skills have improved as well. Thanks to Jodi, he is doing so well that he is fitting in nicely in a day camp for neurotypical children this summer. From what I can see, Jodi keeps current with ongoing professional education, so her technique is that of the cutting edge of her specialty. With her dynamic personality she has instilled in our child a drive to improve that he didn't have before. We are so grateful to have Jodi and her staff in her lives.

I have a healthy 3 year old boy who loves to tell stories. Our problem was wedid not understand a word he said. Once his preschool teachers expressed thesame concern we knew we needed to get speech therapy. I knew I was going to goto Jodi. Besides hering wonderful things about her skills as a speech therapist,I also have known her personally for about 10 years and know what a great personshe is. My son started therapy in September and has already made so much improvement. We are able to understand about 90% of what he says. Most importantly, his teachershave noticed a big improvement. My son is much happier now that we can understandhis wonderfull stories. The crankiness and frustrtaion have disappeared. He alsoloves going to "Miss Jodi's". I thank Jodi for getting him on the right trachand helping him with her fabulous skills. I recommend Jodi's speech servicesto anyone who is thinkin of speech for their child. She has made a great improvementin our lives, especially our son's

I have been using the Early Intervention program for my son for several months, they were effective but the process was slow and we saw only a slight improvement. Then I decided to seek private speech therapy. My son has only been to see Mrs. Schectman for a few visits but I have already seen a marked improvemtn in his speech. My husband and I are thrilled with his progress and even thou it is long drive from our home it's well worth the time to see my son finally begin to communicate with us!

My son Brett has been a part of the Social Skills class. I can't say enough about the changes I've seen in him. I have to give credit to Jodi Schechtman and her staff for helping my son make those changes happen. My experience has been so positive. My son has learned such valuable information, lessons that as a mom I couldn't have even began to teach him. I wanted my son to be prepared for high school and for life. As a parent I wanted to do everything in my power to assist my son in having the best experience growing up and make the most out of the life he has been given. This place is the place to start. I only wish more parents knew what an important step this can be for both you and your child. It wasn't just for Brett. I learned tons on how to help him and how to navigate the sometimes frustrating school system to get him what he needed. I admit I thought I really knew how to help my son on my own, I gained such incredible insight from this experience I won't make that mistake again. From my perspective being the best parent I could be started with finding this great resource. Interactive Kids is filled with people that love and care about kids and have the education and expertise to back it up and make a difference. I couldn't have asked for a better encounter. So I guess it all comes down to saying thank you Jodi and your team for saving my son from not just one embarrassing mishap but several.

What a difference I have seen in my son (age 3) since he began working with Kristin, a Speech and Language Therapist and a associate with Jodi Schechtman Speech Services. He is now so much more verbal and animated, as well as just a happier child. Kristin takes the time to listen to what my son says and has always remembers things that are important to him. She gets just as excited as I do when Ryan does something wonderful. Ryan also has made phenomenal progress with his social skills, thanks wholly to the preschool social skills playgroup that Jodi holds. Everyone we have met through Jodi Schechtman Speech Services seems to want the kids that they see to be the best that they can. Thank you Kristin, Jodi and Mimi for giving Ryan the best speech services (and lots of love and support) that we could find!!!
