Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC) Evaluations

At The Communication Station, we also provide AAC evaluations and follow up visits. The advantage of having an AAC evaluation is to provide each child with the expressive ability to communicate optimally. Although our philosophy is that every child’s goal, regardless of age, should continually work on expressive verbal communication, some children understand much more information than they can express. Therefore, this gives them an opportunity to express themselves to others and assists the child with successfully communicating with peers and significant others.

After an initial evaluation, if valid, we provide a written letter of necessity to your insurance company for the device. This device can be on loan until the new device is received. We also include 2 therapy sessions to practice utilizing the system and incorporate the child’s attempts at verbal output while utilizing the device. Two follow-up visits (approx 3 hrs each) to the child’s school for the education of school staff and generalization are also included. We provide a cost effective manner to assist with need.
